Etsy fees, line by line.

Etsy takes several fees on every sale. Here is where each one comes from.

  1. Listing fee: $0.20

    Etsy charges $0.20 per listing. It charges it again at each renewal, every 4 months, and each time a multi-quantity item sells.

  2. Transaction fee: 6.5%

    Etsy takes 6.5% of the item price. The shipping you charge counts too, and so does gift wrap.

  3. Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 in the US

    This is the Etsy Payments fee. It depends on your bank account’s country: 4% + €0.30 in France, 4% + £0.20 in the UK.

  4. Regulatory operating fee

    Etsy adds it in some countries only. In 2026: 1.14% in France, 0.88% in Spain, 0.80% in Italy, 0.48% in the UK. None in Germany, Belgium or the US.

  5. VAT on fees

    In Europe and the UK, Etsy adds VAT to all its fees. If you gave Etsy your VAT number, it doesn’t.

  6. Currency conversion: 2.5%

    It applies if your shop sells in a currency other than your bank’s. To avoid it, list in your bank’s currency.

  • How much does Etsy take from a sale?

    On a $19.90 item in the US, Etsy takes about $2.30: transaction, payment and listing fees. The calculator gives you the exact figure for your price.

  • What profit margin should I aim for?

    Many sellers aim for at least 30%. Below that, one refund or one Etsy ad can wipe out the profit of several sales.

  • Are Etsy ads included?

    No. Etsy Offsite Ads (15% or 12% on the sales they bring) depend on each sale. The calculator leaves them out.
